This is about playing hard, easy, interesting scenarios. I would like to reiterate that this is not a simple cheat thing. Bottom line we should have custom saved and loadable Scenarios, Teams and possibly Worlds (which can now be done by repeat use of a seed). Right now the last screen before starting is the team selection panel, it might be appropriate, if you have created or loaded a custom team to show it here anyway for a final chance to tweak. To fully integrate Prepare Carefully it would make some sense to add it after the Custom Scenario screen, though it should be possible to have a custom team with a standard scenario too. That way, one could create a psychopath cannibal scenario, or a well balanced gatherer-miner-researcher/medic/etc starter, and just need to share the scenario rather than two files.Īmbaire: I 've always found the start up sequence a little strange and maybe this is a result of the new options that have been introduced over time. Preparing carefully is the best part of Dwarf Fortress, and I can't imagine that RimWorld will go forever without adding a similar functionality to the base game.Įdit: Also, what part of new game creation do you think this would be best suited for? The existing version of prepare carefully has you doing it after site selection at the point that RimWorld has pawn selection, but I wonder if it might be better suited for part of a scenario. a rooster and two hens, or a mating pair of retrievers, etc. Or start with a specific collection of animals, like. There's no other way to ensure one starts with a specific trait+skill lineup beyond hitting the randomize button a few thousand times, which is no fun at all. How many copies has this game sold in total?Īlso, complete agreement. What does Tynan think? Will it ever happen?Ĭonsidering that the Steam English version of EdB Prepare Carefully has over 400,000 current subscribers, I think that the demand for it by the masses is definitely there. I'm sure if Tynan committed to adding the functionality there would be great support in the community and possibly some integration or functionality improvement suggestions. This may not be a viable thing for 1.0 as it seems to be fairly close to done. Right now you're only real choice for customising your crew is spamming the randomise button to get something like what you want and you wont really ever get close. and this sort of tool greatly enhances that experience. Adding the power of Mod's with different races, species, factions, etc. This is what the game is about, playing scenarios. Want to have a bunch of super people that can handle almost anything, sure want to have a family unit that includes that belligerent son in law that's gonna be given a wooden shive to hunt bears if he starts one more fight, yep want to play a low tech game with no skill boosts and low starting resources, no problems. It simply provides a way to customised the starting line-up and kit, but in doing so it provides the ultimate scenario building tool. I know that this has been mentioned before, but with 1.0 coming out the door this is a passionate plea for Tynan's consideration.ĮdB's Prepare Carefully mod represents a key characteristic of this game that keeps people playing day after day, imagination.
